Ministry of Mines & Hydrocarbons – Equatorial Guinea
The Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons is responsible for the stewardship of Equatorial Guinea’s abundant natural resources, and has built a reputation as an innovative, forward thinking organization and a reliable long term partner for international investors. Equatorial Guinea is Sub Saharan Africa’s third largest oil producer and a major proponent of gas utilization on the continent. Key oil and gas upstream developments include the Zafiro, Alen, Aseng, Ceiba and Okume fields. The downstream Punta Europa hub, located near Malabo, includes facilities for methanol, LNG, LPG and CNG production and is the basis for further extensive downstream developments. In 2017 the MMH brought Equatorial Guinea into OPEC as a member state, having previously joined with OPEC to support the Declaration of Cooperation as a non-member. With a bidding round successfully completed in 2017, the MMH has welcomed several new oil companies to its waters over the last year, and continues to be seen as a partner of choice for international investment in oil and resources in Africa.
